Religious Education in the Educational Curricula and Its Relationship to Digital Socialization
Main Article Content
Abstract
The contemporary era is witnessing profound digital transformations that have significantly affected patterns of socialization and the values of emerging generations. Religious education, as part of school curricula, represents a key instrument for promoting moral and religious values and protecting learners from intellectual and behavioral deviations within the digital environment. This study adopts a descriptive-analytical approach and content analysis of relevant literature and previous studies, with the objectives of: (1) analyzing the current state of religious education in light of the characteristics of digital socialization, (2) examining the intellectual, educational, digital, and institutional challenges it faces, and (3) proposing a developmental framework for curricula and teaching methods that integrates technology in a value-oriented and responsible manner. The study concludes that religious education is capable of adapting to the digital environment if its content and teaching strategies are redesigned to address contemporary issues, including digital security, communication ethics, and cyberbullying. The study also recommends the need to train teachers in interactive and digitally integrated teaching methods, as well as to involve families and the wider community in supporting values-based education.
