The Impact of a Proposed Rehabilitation Program on Treating Ligament Tears and Strengthening the Muscles Operating in the Shoulder Joint among Handball and Tennis Players
Main Article Content
Abstract
This study aimed to investigate the effect of a proposed rehabilitation program on treating ligament tears and strengthening the working muscles of the shoulder joint in handball and tennis players The researcher used the experimental method with a pre-test and post - test design for two equivalent groups (experimental and control). The study sample consisted of (16) athletes suffering from ligament tears in the shoulder joint, attending the Sports Medicine Center in Tripoli. They were randomly divided into two equal groups (8 in the experimental group, 8 in the control group). The proposed rehabilitation program was applied for (12) weeks, at a rate of (3) sessions per week. The results showed statistically significant differences between the pre-test and post-test measurements in favor of the post-test in all study variables for the experimental group. Furthermore, the experimental group outperformed the control group in the post-test measurements. The researcher concluded that the proposed rehabilitation program has a positive effect on treating shoulder ligament tears and strengthening the working muscles, and recommended its adoption in sports rehabilitation centers.
