Abstract

This study aims to elucidate the prominent manifestations of alienation and the associated challenges in the work of the poet Omar Abu Risha, to analyze the underlying causes of his sense of alienation, and to examine how he responded to it. Alienation is understood here as an individual's expression of detachment and separation from their material and intellectual surroundings—manifesting either through withdrawal or through revolution and rebellion—in an attempt to effect change, heal psychological rifts, and bridge the gap between the self and its alienated state. The study concludes that Omar Abu Risha experienced various forms of alienation that profoundly shaped his poetic persona, driving him to seek release from these feelings through his poetry.
